It has been a while since we last posted any news from our clan. With a new family member, a new home and a new job, the last 18 months have flown by.
In our last news update, we were pleased to announce the birth of Leoni Grace and we mentioned our move to Essex where I (Alan) was taking up a new position in a church as Youth and Children's Minister. Leoni is now approaching 18 months old, and the job is going really well. So, as you can imagine there has been much going on in between now and our last post, and so I'll just cover the highlights...
- We thank God for how he has blessed our family life. Leoni is a character and a half (almost the opposite to Joshua), and so she keeps us on our toes! Joshua and Leoni get on great and will play together, cuddle, bundle and giggle lots together.
- We are both loving being back home in Essex. We love the people and the places around us and feel that God is calling us long term to stay around this area.
- The youth and children's ministry in the church we are in is going well. I would describe the work as simple and solid... which is a good thing! I lead a youth group that meets midweek and on Sundays, and the guys in the group are great and a real encouragement to us and each other. I also oversee the Children's Church Sunday group for primary school ages, plus a monthly after school Bible club and assemblies, to boot.
- Those who visit the site fairly frequently will know that I have been re-working JC Ryle's Duties of parents into modern English. At present, I am talking with a publisher about having this published into a booklet... I'll post more news as and when I have it.
- I have been greatly encouraged recently by a number of fruitful opportunities to share Jesus with friends and contacts. One in particular has been an informal relationship built up over the last 15 years that has enabled me to pass on one of the Gospel books for them to read. Please pray that people might be saved through these opportunities.
- Lastly, Kirsten and I are beginning to think about and pray about future plans. I am on a 3 year contract and, now that we are half way through, prayer and thought needs to be given as to what we do next. There are a number of thoughts we have, so please pray for wisdom on our part and clear direction on God's part as we explore the various avenues before us.
