My word, doesn't time fly when you are... not blogging. Okay, so I turn my back and whoosh! a whole 5 or 6 months go flying by! Kirsten and I are on the back leg of our holidays at the moment. We've just spent a week in Holmfirth, in West Yorkshire, which is the where Last Of The Summer Wine is filmed. Here are some of the highlights of the holiday: - The cottage we stayed in was superb. It was called Erin Cottage and was really cosy and homely, with a fantastic view over Holmfirth and the surrounding area.
- Half way through the holiday we visited Bryony & Fraser (Kirsten's neice & nephew) and Gary, who were themselves visiting family in Huddersfield.
- We discovered that the National Coal Mining centre is actually a bit boring if you can't go on the underground tour. This is because children under 5 aren't allowed. We tried to convince them that Joshua was a remarkably young looking 8 year old but for some reason they wouldn't believe us.
- We went for a walk around Langsett resevoir and then had a pub lunch afterwards. We had our pride puffed up a bit by a couple of people commenting on how well behaved Joshua was. However, I pointed out to Kirsten that the communal reaction of the pub when I went in to check they had a high chair was one of apprehension. So we figured that the expectation upon us was actually pretty low to begin with!
- Every day we enjoyed a bit of a lie in. This meant that although we got up to have breakfast together, we all went off back to bed after breakfast time! Huzzah for morning naps!
- At Digley resevior, we enjoyed our lunch in the sun. Alas, as we were about to go for a walk the skies opened a monsoon fell. We gave up on the walk and went for a drive instead.
- On our way home, we stopped at a dairy farm for a coffee and to pick up some decent ice cream. The place is called Delph House Farm, and although we were only there for half an hour or so, we had a great time drinking coffee in the sun, playing 'Boc' with the chickens (Joshua particularly liked the chickens), and tasting some lovely ice cream. Turns out their ice cream parlour has only been in business a few weeks. So, if you ever find yourself on the A629 to Huddersfield, then we would recommend a stopping for a coffee and an ice cream.
When we get back to Bromley, I'll be starting my second year at Christ Church. It's amazing that we have been here a year already, and I can't wait to get stuck into the second year.
